BY TRAIN

Designed during Edmonton's centennial in 2004 and Alberta's
centennial in 2005 to tell one facet of Alberta's French-speaking
history, Zéphyr's first production, Par train / By train, was enhanced
by the work accomplished by the performers. Far more than a
historical re-enactment, Par train / By train is meant to be a
reflection on the identity of Western Canada's French-speaking
youth, who often come from exogamous marriages. Traditional yet
contemporary, this production draws on French-Canadian traditional
dance, rythmics, and high performance step-dance for its repertory
but also on dance from other cultures that have made this country.
